Old Fashioned Fun

Yes, I'm almost 17 years old, and yes I STILL play dress-up, just a more mature dress-up, I think, well the clothes actually fit me, so that's something...

I went to my friend Lillie's house last Saturday and we had tea and a photo shot. We can be such goofs! CAPTIONS ABOVE PICTURES

The lovely ladies themselves...
Isn't my dress a gorgeous color? Mrs. Darling is going to wear it in P.P.

I was attempting the sober Civil War widow pose in this one...

not quite sure I pulled it off.

The lovely Miss Lillian. (If you can't already tell,

I love turning pictures black and white.)

I loved this outfit, there's hardly anything as fun as going on a walk
on a snowy afternoon clad in a hoop skirt, plaid dress, wool cloak and a white huge white fur tam.

Our tea table, I decorated it my self:-) The menu was scones, chocolate cookies, tea, and a blueberry/blackberry/apple/ blueberry yogurt fruit salad topped with whipped topping. It was almost, almost, too good looking to eat:-)

Snow, snow and more.. you guessed it!!! SNOW

"In november the snow starts to fly pileing up ankle high.

In December it's up to your knees, still a brides a bride to be.

January, higher still, to the parlor widow sill.

February finds a drift and a storm that seems never to lift.... "

~Seven Brides for Seven Brothers

They got it right!! That's what we have right now (excepting the "a brides a bride to be part" of course...) Will it EVER stop snowing?

I think 80 inches is enough, I mean that's taller than David!!!

Me~

December: Oh look, it's snowing!!! How nice.

January: It's snowing, again.

February : WILL IT EVER STOP SNOWING???*pulls hair out*

*Tries to be cheerful*

*That dosen't help*

*Sings to self*

"Oh the barn yard is busy with the sounds of the season... spring spring spring"

Please come soon!!!

Saturday Mornings

Saturday morning, I love my Saturday mornings. I do one of my favorite things on Saturday mornings. I look forward to doing it all week. My shrieking alarm wakes me up at 7:15 on week days I roll over and push the snooze, and I daydream about Saturday morning, the day I do not set my alarm. The morning I SLEEP IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, sleeping in is one of my favorite things to do. I know you are all laughing at me, and thinking me terribly lazy, but think what you like. I enjoy my sleep.

So last night Mom told us we had to move wood this morning before it snowed, so that means, no sleeping in. *sniff* *sob* So I wasn't exactly happy about it when Mom woke me up this morning. I really don't like moving wood. But I kept on thinking about the convention. One of the meetings we sang a song about rejoicing in the Lord, and I'd decided when we were singing that the point of the song, at least to me, was that if you rejoice in all circumstances, it will all work out, so I decided to try it out this morning. Now I wasn't terribly happy, but I didn't complain, even inside. Complaining inside is my normal occupation during wood moving. So at first, it was pretty hard, I had to work all by myself in the basement and it was moving really slow, besides the fact that Luke almost hit me with wood a couple of times. There was only Mom, Luke and Debbie upstairs, Joe and Susie were over at the neighbors, covering their roses so they wouldn't freeze, Dad's leg is hurt so he couldn't help. The moving process was going veeeeeeeery slow, But we plugged away. It had started to snow, when our neighbor got home, (remember 'the biologist' Wood girls?) well, he saw us in all our pitifulness, and offered to help. Do you know how much help a young strong guy who likes hard work is??? Lots and Lots of help, thank you Lord for Mr. Morse. Sisters came over about half way through and then we really flew and believe it or not we finished the load of wood in about 2 hours. Now we have a whole Saturday to do just as we please. Well, we can't sleep, but, we can watch old movies together and drink hot coco. Well, if we have any that is.

Sorry this is so long, I always get an urge to write when it storms, the problem is my wrists always hurt when it storms too. I guess my point is, when I'm happy about things, they go better. That's what I learned this morning. Very fundamental lesson, but a very true one.

Snowbound!

We've been pretty much snowed in all weekend. To tell you the Truth, it's been a BLAST! We've all been being lazy, which is always refreshing:) Church was called off due to this:

very heavy snow layered with ice. Which was pleasant to shovel *wrote while winning "my back".* Of course we couldn't sit around all day watching TV, so instead of going bored silly, a great desire came upon us to do something we hadn't in more than 6 years. At least not all of us. We played dress-up! We were all classic literature figures, we had two Austen's; Jane Fairfax and Georgianna Darcy, a Molly Gibson and Bella Wilfer complete with Bella Jr, also Miss Jo March and Queen Berengaria. If you've been figuring you'd know that that's seven. My six sisters and I! I was Jo March. Here's me doing "Rodrigo, Rodrigo SAVE ME, AAAAEEEEEEEE!"

...then I collapsed on the floor laughing.

Sarah was super cute as little Bella Wilfer. Katie was her mother. Aren't they adorable?

Well I can't post a picture of everyone, but here's one of Debbie Queen Bul...ga...van -how ever you say her name, she was Richard the Lionhearted wife (yes Merry, my dear wilf) The Queen's in Walter Scott's Talisman, but Debbie was doing her from a movie we saw about the crusades. She marries Richard's sword instead of him because he's too lazy to come to the wedding.

Giving credit where it's due. Joe made the sword, all by himself. Her's one of Susie too, as Miss Darcy

It was so much fun this afternoon that I'm beginning to think being snowed in isn't so bad a disease. "May the Lord Strike me with it and may I never recover!" *lightning strikes*

Cheerio,
Jo March:)

P.S. There's more pictures at Rebecca's blog .
