Thankful Thursday #6

This week I am thankful for...

My Two Funny (and Wonderful) Brothers.

They will do weird things with me.
I.E. Getting soaking wet running around in the rain.
I.E. Sliding down a hill and getting mud down our backs.
I.E. Having a good old-fashioned mud-ball fight.
I.E. Letting Mom take pictures of us in all of all our wet/muddy glory.

Brothers are great, they just are.
I don't admitted it often, but I just love these guys.

A Sampling of Some Camp Flavor

I can be so Obtuse...

Camp was A-W-E-S-O-M-E.

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.

L-I-F-E C-H-A-N-G-E-I-N-G.

Which is good, nice, good for me and everyone else.

But...

I've always said "The worst part of vacation is coming home."

I proved it today.

Note: I make calls so often at the library that it's very automatic. I can follow my train of thought without paying attention to what I'm saying.

Italics are my thoughts.

Let's see a movie for Saamia, she's a nice lady, Indian I think.

*calls number*

*gets answering machine*

"Hello, this is the Public Library..."

I should tell Molly (fellow christian librarian) about camp.

"I'm just calling to let you know you have have a movie in, we'll keep it at the library for 2 days In-"

*here my attention is suddenly wholly on my what I was about to say*

Oh my word, I was about to say In Jesus Name Amen, what on earth??? Hurry and finish*

"
Well, have a nice day, Amen."

Amen?? Amen? What on earth why did I-

*
realizes I'm still being recorded*

"
Umm.. I didn't mean that I meant to say good-bye. I'm sorry."

I am such an idiot

" I guess I'm not very good at this whole answering machine thing although I do it enough..."

Lydia, it's still recording you...

" Well Good-bye!"

*Slams phone down*

*
tells other librarian about embarrassing call*

Librarian: *laughs so hard she's cries*

Other Librarian: *laughs even harder* "You said amen?Isn't she Hindu?"

Hindu? *feels like fainting*

*calls same number again*

"Hi, this is the Library again. I'm just calling because I am aware I just left a rather odd message on your machine so I thought I'd explain myself."

Or try to...

"You see I just got back from camp, church camp, so I guess I wasn't quite in my librarian mode yet...so I don't know why I said that... so I'm just calling to apologize... I just hope you were able to laugh at it..."

And not get mad and please not get mad...

" So have a nice day! Good-bye!"

I have a feeling I just made a embarrassing situation worse. Me and my big mouth.

Thankful Thursday #4

A couple of days ago I was taking one of those endless blogthings quizzes that are uncannily know you so well, and have the weirdest questions. One of questions, "What would you rather live without, a)music or b)laughter" I answered quickly enough, but it had me thinking later. I said I would rather live without music based on a) I love to laugh b) the world would be awful without laughter.

But...

This week I am thankful for Music.

Generally, I guess you could say I'm not as into music as the average teenager, but I still love it.

Music is mentioned in the Bible in Gen 4:21 And his brother's name was Jubal: he was the father of all such as handle the harp and organ.

Way back in the beginning of world God gave us music to praise him and give him glory.

So here's a sample of some of my favorite music:

Thankful Thursday #3

This is probably what everyone else is doing this week. But, hey, it's what I'm thankful for!

Freedom

I live in the U.S.A. and while we have our problems, I do believe since God was at the base of our country (aka "In God we trust") there are things in this country that are an amazing blessing from God. In this country we do not have a dictator telling us what to do or killing us for his own amusement. We (for the present time) have a Godly man in the oval office, who cares about the American people and who loves God. I have religious freedom. I can own a Bible, I can go to church. I can share my faith in public and I won't get imprisoned and beaten.

I can travel acrossed two states and not be stopped at borders and questioned.

Which is nice, because I don't want to wait any longer the necessary to see these smiling faces:

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!!

MAY GOD BLESS THE U.S.A.!

Tag! You're It!

Julia from Julia's Journal tagged me!

*Link the person who tagged you to your blog.
*Answer some questions
*And tag 4-6 other people and comment on their blogs to let them know they've been tagged!

This 'tag' had three questions to answer concerning authors.
Who is Your Favorite Author and why?

I really don't know I have several authors I enjoy, But I don't have a favorite.

Jeri Massi's Derwood books are hilarious.

Jane Austen is amazing .'Nough said.

Then there's Agatha Christie, I LOVE her Tommy and Tuppence books. If I had to pick a favorite it would be C.S. Lewis. Narnia is inspiring, and The Screwtape Letters was very interesting. Lewis has to be the best ever at describing things.

But I really don't have a favorite, I'm always trying out new authors and books.

Who Was your First Favorite Author and why?

Probably it was Gertrude Chandler Warner of the Boxcar Children books. Lois Gladys Leppard was also a favorite when I was young, I LOVED the Mandie books.Quite the opposite is true now.

Donald J. Sobel is the only author I read when I was little that I still read now. Encyclopedia Brown is awesome!

Who is the most recent addition to your favorite authors and why?
Trenton Lee Stewart. He wrote The Mysterious Benedict Society
and The Mysterious Benedict Society and The Perilous Journey These books are enthraling and well written, I love the characters and the riddles.
